I know not everyone is a huge Hans Holbein fan, so I'm not gonna go into the intricacies of his painting, "The Ambassadors." The need-to-know is that all of the objects are symbolic of various things in their life. This got me thinking, what would I have included in my own version of this painting? I don't have absurd amounts of wealth, so I wouldn't be able to show that off, but I also wouldn't JUST throw my hobbies into a painting either.

I love the outdoors, so the green backdrop would have to be replaced with the greenery of a forest. This would also serve to represent an air of fresh ideas and thoughts, perhaps the persistence of my progression. A bass guitar would also be in it because I love the way Flea plays the bass for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I don't actually play guitar myself. More plants, flowers, rocks, and fossils could also be in it. I have a piece of jaw from a mosasaurus I would include because it was one of the apex predators of the late cretaceous period and deserves a spot in a fine art piece. I also really like geology, and consider it a field where one can make money, so I should probably include that fossil since "the Ambassadors" had things that signified wealth. That being said, I would include some of my wife's silver ornaments. I like silver more than I like gold, partially because it is more easy to obtain, but I also like my wife's taste in decorations and ornaments. Now, we're married and all, but I'd include her in the painting as well for what an outstanding woman she is. She is all the businesswoman I am not (and I'm pretty good) and as my better half she has more than earned her right to take a spot with the rocks, plants, fossils, and silver ornaments of my painting, "the Natural Freak Show."
